If you have ever searched for jobs with Unitemps, you will have noticed the variety of vacancies we have on offer. From hospitality and events, administration and education, through to IT and technology – our employment opportunities cover a number of sectors, giving you the chance to secure a position in your chosen industry.
Not only do we offer roles across a range of industries, but they also vary in contract type, meaning that our candidates can apply for a temporary or permanent position, or even an internship, in their preferred sector.
There are plenty of benefits when it comes to securing either a permanent job, temporary job or internship. But, depending on what you are looking to get out of the role, you may be suited to one of these job types over the other.
Permanent positions
If you secure a permanent job with Unitemps, you will be hired to work in a specific role for an agreed number of hours. You will work on either a full-time or part-time basis and, whether you are a full- or part-time employee, candidates working on a permanent contract will be paid an annual salary and receive the statutory minimum level of paid holiday.
This type of contract is a good option for candidates who are looking to stay with a company for a sustained period of time, build up their experience within one business or deepen their understanding of a particular sector.
There won’t be a set expiry date on your contract, meaning you’ll have the chance to settle into the role and make it your own, get to know the ins and outs of the company and foster strong relationships with your co-workers.

Temporary positions
Temporary employment is where a candidate works in a job for a certain period of time depending on the needs of the business.
Candidates that take on temporary roles could find that they work at an event over a couple of days, or that they work part-time in an office for up to six months. The variety of temporary positions available means that there are many different reasons to consider applying for them.
Temping could be beneficial if you aren’t going to be living in the same place permanently. For example, if you are a student who is only looking for work during term time or over the summer holidays, then a temporary role would be perfect for you.
Are you looking to gain a variety of experience to add to your CV? Temporary contracts enable candidates to try out a range of positions across multiple sectors, over a short period of time. This means that, when it comes to applying for new vacancies, you will be more likely to have relevant experience to include in your application and discuss during your interview.
Not only does having a variety of skills look good on your CV, but working temporary jobs can help you discover what you’re good at and what you have a passion for.
If you’ve just graduated from university and are unsure which career path is the right one for you, or if you’ve worked in one sector for many years and are looking for something new, temping allows you to try your hand at a few different things before making the decision to commit to anything more permanent.
Another big reason for temping is that sometimes it can lead to a permanent job! Depending on the needs of the company, there is always a chance you may get taken on as a permanent member of staff.

Internships
Often the first step on the career ladder, an internship provides people with the chance to work for a business in a way that will give them an understanding of the practical working environment.
With the Unitemps Internship Programme, our candidates can take part in a three-month internship. This type of job is ideal for students and graduates who are looking to complement their degrees by showcasing that they have had valuable experience within a specific sector or company.
Once your internship has come to an end and you are in the process of applying for new opportunities, you should be able to list a range of workplace skills that you developed during your time as an intern. The graduate job market can be very competitive, so having a few months of ‘real-world’ experience on your CV could be what catches the eye of a potential employer and helps your application progress to the interview stage.
Plus, you can ask the line manager or supervisor from your internship to be one of your professional referees. Having a reference from someone who works in a similar industry or business to the role you are applying for will be another boost to your application.
Much like a temporary role, an internship could also lead to you securing a permanent position with the company you are working for!
